How does one become the beneficiary when i do not know anyone overseas strange.
Could i get some comments please for other people?

  9. Janice Says:

My father receives at least one of these every week. The money is always to be sent to GDS and the addresses are always the same on the envelopes, the mailings are usually from different companies. The big problem is that I can’t get through to him that he’s not going to win any money. This has been going on for over a year and he has yet to see ONE penny, but continues to send them the $40 they ask for. My suggestion would be to write return to sender on the envelope (don’t open it) and when they get tired of paying for return postage they will stop bothering you. Good luck.

    • stevedowne Says:

      Hi Janice.
Sadly they will never get the returned envelopes. My best advice is to advice them of a change of address to a vacant property
      Steve

      • Janice Says:

Thanks for the info Steve. Someone is obviously receiving these “GDS” payments, why is there no way to catch who picks them up from the mailbox they’re being delivered to??? I am so frustrated!! I really appreciate your Blog. It shows that my Dad is not the only one, however, I can’t “print” your Blog to show him and word of mouth apparently isn’t good enough. He trusts the people he doesn’t know and not the people that love and are trying to look out for him. Your Blog has been the most helpful throughout all of this, so I’d like to say “thank you” for trying to educate the public and giving advice to people like me who don’t know where to go anymore.

      • stevedowne Says:

        Hi Janice

        Thank you.

I do unterstand your position. You do really need to print some of the blog replies or get your Dad to read them online. It worked for me in part by showing my brother all the replies and getting him involved in the “fight” so to speak. However he is not cured and still needs watching.
        Regards and Best Wishes

    • stevedowne Says:

Thanks Tracey information like this helps. The only way this can be stopped is if the Post Office refuses delivery. The Post Man or Mail Man knows who he is delivering to, he has in his bag a large collection of the same letters. I know I have interviewed many

  14. Mrs. V. Kirk Says:

Hi Steve, How are these people getting away with this, its surely illegal. I get the same forms week after week, Phyderma,Vital Nature, Shopping bag,all the same address Kilmarnock. Would the Police deal with them? Its all very well saying its a scam but why can they not be shut down completely! Good to read your excellent blog, Kind regards from Vicky

  15. Tim Says:

There is a new type of this kind of scam. They send a letter to person A who sends money to person B. Person B then sends that and more to person C who repeats it. At some point that chain of money gets sent to the scammer who uses a bit of it to re-seed the scam again.

    • jld Says:

This sounds like a type of scam that my father is involved in. He told me about a year and a half ago that he sent a large amount of money to an “elderly lady that needed a car”. ($2800) Later on that month HE received a check for a little smaller amount that he tried to cash at the bank. There was “insufficient funds” in that account to honor the check. The check was written for $2600, which he cashed, but before it could go through to find out, the bank on the other end would only honor it for $26.00, he “spent it” and ultimately owed the bank he cashed it at $2574 which he is currently paying back. Since this happened, they make sure every check he gets is legitamate. He’ll bring a check in not knowing the person that sent it and it sends up a red flag. It usually comes back as “insufficient funds”. I don’t know if it applies to you or not, but this seems to be targetting very elderly people. Frustrating!!! Know it’s out there, but how do you STOP IT!?!?!? By the way also found out that the $2600 check had been WASHED and was originally only written for $26.00…maybe not re-seeding. Good luck….any info…would love to hear it!:)

  16. Caroline Anderton Says:

Vital Nature have been bombarding me with promise of around £45,000 prize win for afew months.. i am so distressed, as im pretty sure its a scam, but i did send afew small orders. Makes you feel such a donut. And i noticed if you want to return and refund the goods the address is in FRANCE, not the Glasgow address. How much would that cost me! and within seven days…
I keep returning their wretched stickers [without an order] in the vague hope it might happen, but the flame is going out…[I sent them £41. in total. Please respond any similar, current experiences,
    Caz.

    • stevedowne Says:

Caz Best if you send them nothing at all, return the goods if you don’t want them and if you can. Then have nothing to do with them, destroy all post from them. DONT be tempted to send anything back as it only let them know you still there at that address. Regards Steve

  17. Caroline Anderton Says:

Cheers Steve, it’s a comfort to read your blog; okay i will bin everything from V.Nature from now on, what a waste of time and my money..Caz
